One of the highlights in southeastern New Mexico is the thrilling Carlsbad Caverns National Park. There are multiple options to exploring the caverns, whether you chose to take a more modern approach and ride an elevator or chose to pursue on your own, you’ll enjoy this cave system. Be sure and make an evening visit to see the bats in flight!
If being in a cave makes isn’t your idea of a fun outing, you’ll enjoy a trip to the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park. Or spend some time relaxing and getting your outdoors on at Brantley Lake or Sitting Bull Falls.
After a day of exploring the inside of the caverns or at the many recreational areas in the town, a great way to relax and unwind is a walk by the Pecos River. What a lot of folks do not realize about this area is the river that runs through the heart of Carlsbad. There are many activities for adults and children alike along the river, including exercise equipment set up by the city.
As always when you are exploring a new area, it is fun to eat in the local restaurants. If you love restaurants with a history and local feel you’ll love Happy’s.
