Canvas Artistry Restaurant
Canvas Artistry Restaurant
Canvas is a restaurant located at 3120 Central Avenue SE, in the Nob Hill Area, set to open mid-summer 2015.
Canvas is a multi-faceted concept bar and kitchen. Walking into the unfinished location, the first thing Jesus Gomez (co-owner) was proud to point out was that they have removed the wood from the ceilings to create a space that allows for better lighting and ambiance. Jesus is careful to preserve our resources, and is putting all of the wood which was once the ceiling back into the restaurant. The most notable use of this reclaimed wood is the surprisingly large bar. This bar is composed entirely of reclaimed wood, and is surely to be a beautiful sight once finished.
Along with Jesus’ visions of being environmentally sound, his ideas for the flooring and the paint used in Canvas are kept simple so that the focus is kept on another component of this amazing concept restaurant. The idea behind this component is to create a space which is an art collective for artists of all mediums to showcase and meet. The intention set for Canvas is to pay homage and respect to the craft and the art of these different mediums. Jesus plans to showcase not only local, but national and international artists which will surely create a beautiful melting pot of all that is art.
Two mediums of art which are not what one would consider when thinking of art in the traditional sense are the exquisite food and beverage menus. No less that 70% of items offered will be local. Chef Saul, Jesus’ business partner will be the creator of the food served. Saul will be visiting the local farmer’s market in order to keep his kitchen stocked. Between Saul and Jesus, their concepts will be bringing the whole community together. As far as the plated food goes, Saul’s plans are to create consistency. No matter who is preparing dishes for the evening, there will be no variance in the quality by which it is presented. They allowed NewMexi.co to have a peek at their menu plans, and what we can say is that patrons can expect the classics in ways which they have never experienced them before: reinvented, unique, and absolutely delightful.
Aside from the food (which has inspired serious excitement), the beverage menu is just as special. Expect to walk up to the bar to find plenty of smoke infused cocktails as well as craft cocktails created with house made syrups, fresh fruit, herbs, and lots of care. Beers, wines, and spirits will be centered around our local community. Additionally, if you are in the mood for some dessert, all desserts, breads, pastries, and ice creams will all be made in house.
Last but most certainly not least, the minds behind Canvas have some incredible nightly themes and concepts which will bring a strong sense of closeness among all who enter their doors. Albuquerqueans are going to have to wait for those to be revealed, however. Canvas is exactly what Albuquerque needs, as there is no other spot in town quite like it. See you this summer at Canvas!
