DESCRIPTION:The Santa Fe Fiesta is the oldest civil celebration in the United States\, a tradition dating back to 1712 and first appearing in 1716\, 60 years before the American Revolution. Celebrating the peaceful reclamation of Santa Fe in 1692 and particularly the use of La Conquistadora\, Santa Fe Fiesta is a wonderful event that every New Mexican must see. \nEspecially entertaining is The Burning of Zozobra\, a 50 foot tall ghost-monster that is burned every year as a symbol of throwing away one’s problems and never loosing hope. Zozobra’s arms are also filled with fireworks\, making for a true spectacle. The Burning of Zozobra attracts visitors from all around the globe and is truly a “Bucket List” worthy event.
